About this site

Welcome!

I’m Tim Holyoake and this my collection of retrocomputing ephemera. I’m currently playing with a Sharp MZ-80K from 1981, a 1983 Sharp MZ-700 and an RC2014 homebrew computer that I built at the end of 2020. I also own a Sinclair ZX81 and Spectrum, plus a number of 6502 based micros including a UK101.

I’ve owned the Sharp MZ-80K since it was purchased by my late father as a Christmas present for me and my brother. It’s recently (January 2021) been retrieved from my attic. For the first time in nearly 40 years of ownership it failed to boot. Fortunately it was simply a failed capacitor in the power supply that needed replacing. The MZ-700s were ebay purchases.

My first RC2014 was a Christmas present from my wife in 2020 and it’s been continually added to over the last few years. I also have the RC2040 and Pico RomWBW RC2014 emulators.

I’m using this site as somewhere to write about the things I get up to with my 8 bit computers. It’s also going to act as an archive for the software and other documentation I have for my microcomputers.
